Title: Atlantic Forest
Post by: Code 4 on Mar 27, 2010, 7:35 AM
I never tought I want to start a new track so fast but I've found some textures which look really nice. Maybe this project will take more time because Empire City NC had some stuff which was already done.

Atlantic forest is a track with more euuh...........Forest! So there will be some new and more trees and my plan is to make a river next to the road. Yes, this time I will make it such way that you can drive into the water. Maybe the river would be animated to.

Photo's will come soon.

Now its indeed a forest. :D  Looks nice. So is the river animated?

Is it possible to put animal sounds? If yes, do put that too. It would mean scary when driving in night mode with weather also on & damage too.

The water is animated.
I don't know how to put sounds in a HS track.

I have to say, I'm impressed so far. :) I figured you'd use one of the standard forest tracks (Kindiak, Rocky) as a base, but this is a very original idea that works surprisingly well so far.
I didn't even recognize the area in the last 2 pictures until I realized it was the 'spillway' section in the beginning of Atlantica.
And the brick textures work very natural too, in the second picture I was reminded of the castle/fortress walls from the NFS PU track Auvernge. :)

@ Remko, Yes I've used some textures from Rocky Pass. De water and grass textures are from Hometown.
The stonetexture is a texure from mijzelf.

Looks great. :) In the 3rd picture I like how you make the sides of the 'spillway' road a little uneven, so that it looks more natural. It looks a bit deep now though, if you fall in, will you still be able to climb back onto the road?

As long as the slopes at the ends of both channels are still there that shouldn't be a problem ;)

Looks nice, very interesting variation of the original track :)

Too bad it's not based on Aquatica... I already had a pretty good Atlantica replacement but wasn't sure about Aquatica. Oh wait, there is NFS Will's Blue Ray one :) that's good

great work on the track overall tho love to use it in FM mod but i'm not working on that anymore for a while.

I honestly prefer cars with 2D rims. that makes them so easy to change

Oh wait... great progress on the track! You bet I'd never guess it was Atlantica, very cool.

BTW, does ANYONE know how to edit AI lines on tracks? I've *tried* to change routes around in tracks but the AI acts like idiots!

EDIT: Code 4 you seriously will be in my top 3 best track makers if you finish 3 more tracks of this quality level! The only thing missing I found from NFSWiLL's tracks was there weren't too many extra routes. The tracks of his with shortcuts were great and his textures were none less than exceptional, but that one thing bothered me - and your tracks have good enough textures and great atmosphere and track shape. Oh how I wish AI could take multiple roads... :P

You can't edit AI lines. Nappe1 must have had started an attempt to code that into t3ed, but never finished it. Editing AI lines is impossible.

I got a chance to try out Lake Diabolo the other week, absolutely loved it. :) Give it a try WiLL, it's recommended.
QuoteI tried to upload it here recently, but I didn't know if it worked.
I haven't seen it, checked via FTP too, so I'm afraid it didn't come through for some reason. But I was planning to add it to the site myself in the very near future anyway, so expect to see it here soon. :)

@Code 4: Another cool feature of the track, do you plan to give most of the futuristic architecture in Atlantica a more traditional castle/fortress look? Saying that because at this point, I feel the trees and building don't 'mix' that well yet, in my opinion (no offense meant, I realize that it's not finished yet ;)).

If you plan to use my visibility editor here is an updated version of it : http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3019808/NFS_HS/VSEdit_1.0.36_Setup.exe
I made some tiny bugfixes and added one button >Save T3ED Import & Run<.
It saves the visibility file, imports it if T3ED Dev 3 is open, saves the changed tr.frd file and start HS. This speeds up testing a lot. ;)
