Those spambots or users or whatever spamming the forums are getting on my nerves. Cant you do anything against these..?

Every single one of the spammers from the past few weeks has been banned, IP and all.
The problem is they immediately re-register with a different IP the next day. Every time someone registers an account here, there's an extra action they have to take to verify that they're actually a human being instead of a bot, but apparently spambots are so sophisticated nowadays that they bypass those easily. :( apparently they even use OCR techniques these days to deal with Captchas ("type the following code: 6A7Q in this box") kinda disheartening, really.
But you're right, of course, it's getting really annoying. I'm looking into better safeguards against spambots registering here right now.
I'm testing some new forum software, and might try to integrate into vBulletin... but it's a massive undertaking as the regular part of the site is integrated closely with the forums :(
vBulletin would be a cool idea, better spam filters definitely... but you're right integrating the whole rest of the site would not be easy :(
Well, how about a better CAPTCHA system? They bother people, but not as much as spam does. Plus, most of the members of our community are already registered here more or less... try Re-CAPTCHA, they're supposed to be good
There is another one, very recently, this time with porn images....geez.
There was just another one yesterday called STD Studio, a home furnishings store.
That was actually kind of funny ;)
