I'm not getting any virus or any kind of warning from my software with this site...Maybe it's a virus that loads when you start your explorer. I don't know. World of viruses is too dangerous and complicated.

@ Will: Thanks, hope you get the problem fixed. ;)

@ all: once I got a virus that would randomly open pop-ups - WHEN THE INTERNET WASN'T EVEN OPEN. That was extremely weird - especially the disgusting nature of some of the popups :o . Then, it installed some "special spyware removal tools"  that "Windows recommended" to be installed, adding about 25 more viruses on top of that. My background and theme tabs in Display Properties were missing. My background was stuck as a fake screenshot of an error message (I knew it was fake because my taskbar/window color was grey at the time, not blue like in the message). Then, it screwed up McAffee! McAffee couldn't pick up anything because "my subscription had expired". It wanted me to buy McAffee again  . Comcast internet comes with McAffee for as long as you have their service, so I knew something was wrong. Next, it started deleting random folders/files off my hard drive. I lost many hours of work on NFS4 projects, other projects, and I lost quite a few system .dlls that made my system then unstable. Then, things got so screwed up that I had to reinstall Windows and then fix it from there. Nightmares, people :(

McAffee and Norton both blow, you pay a heap of money for mediocre protection

FM - You should be able just uninstall or disable McAffee protection and run your regular AV software

Will - Definitely give avast a go, I've used it for the last 3 years or so with fantastic results, virus protection is updated daily, it also does a very, very thorough scan of your HDD

Hi yeah i dont have a,heap of money, for mediocre protection TS.
So what you think about AGV Free One? that any good as yours?
Also are you using the Free Ver. of Avast? Hope so.

I like AVG Free, but I have tried a few other ones here and there, as well as a few spyware programs that also handle Trojan Horses....but I hear Avast is decent, so mayble I'll d/l it too and run both at some point.

Avast is decent, but the paying version. The free version is nothing special, probably Kaspersky and ESET nod32 are better than the free home version.
And some antivirus cannot be run at the same time. For instance Kaspersky and Norton. They detect you have another antivirus and ask you to remove the other in order to install it (own experience).

FM: I had that same virus you had. IT was horrible. Sometimes pop-ups started to open and become like crazy opening one per second and not stopping at all till you turned off the computer (switching off the power, cause that was the only way). I think I used the same solution than you...Formating my computer and starting again.

Right now I only use Spyware doctor with anitvirus and Mozilla Firefox with ad-block and NoScript plugins and everything has been working out perfectly for almost 2 years. When I access to a bad site Spyware doctors blocks it. Every day theres an update, and I have found from time to time some minor Trojans, not very dangerous.

Yeah. I use ESET NOD32 & its better than Avast. I didnt like McAfee & Norton as they are most useless.

As far as this site is concerned, I disabled my virus scan & am browsing it. I didnt get any virus. :)

I doubt anyone's uploading viruses here that are downloaded automatically :(

But who knows? Funny we haven't seen mike here in a while :eek3:

Did you get them by downloading a file or just browsing forums?

If you  guys are getting stuff from NFSA, it's either spyware or adware, not a virus. I'm pretty sure Mike does a good job of keeping viruses off here.

Sorry I haven't been around much.. work has been killing me :(

But I screen every file that gets uploaded to the site, so there are no viruses in those. I'm 99% viruses were picked up elsewhere and randomly show up, but just happens to be when you're on here :(
