Title: NFS 2-3
Post by: abyss on Jul 21, 2009, 3:35 PM
Does anyone know how to convert nfs2 models to nfs 3. I have a porsche 917 I downloaded for NFS 2 but I want to use it on NFS 3. The 917 works nicely on NFS 2 and has really good race texturing with stripes and logos. It also looks pretty good for such a low poly car. There used to be some really good Need for Speed 2 files available. Nowadays it's hard to find cool tools, tracks and other interesting programs for NFS 1 and 2. There's not many sites left for those games. I miss a lot of the old sites.

Can you show that model to me? I have never downloaded any models for NFS2. I saw some on nfssd.net which are done nicely but I think only texture is changed. There is a tool named Car2to3. It converts NFS2 cars to NFS3. But you will need to extract .geo files from some .viv file using NFSWizard  if you have NFS2SE & those .geo files are meshes. For normal NFS2, geo files are already extracted in the game.

I tried to use nfs2-3 but I was confused on how to use it. I'm converting standard nfs2 non se models to nfs3. If I figure out how to use the program than I'd convert all the download cars except DB7, Mustang and the M3.

Totalnfs is one of the last nfs2 sites left. One of the big reasons I'm converting them is so the models won't be gone forever when the site closes.

There are already new NFSes releasing which have those models & they will look good instead of these low-poly ones. ANyways, good luck. :bigthumb:

The only problem is I can't figure out how to use nfs2to3.The new Need For Speed's aren't as good as the old one's are. None have a nice 917 like that though. That thing has great striping and detail. By the way what's the homepage for nfseditor. I saw a link to the careditor info page which had a link to a nfs 2 car database with surprisingly well edited cars. I want to see the sites homepage though.

You can't make cars but you it does have almost the same capabilities as carcad is. I can't seem to find the homepage of the site though.

I don't think it's online anymore. BTW, where on earth did you get CAR2TO3? I can't find it anywhere.
