Title: Online-Resources of classic NFS titles
Post by: MADMAN_nfs on Apr 05, 2014, 5:31 AM
The purpose of this thread is to collect valid links to sites that are STILL hosting files (mods, patches, demos, etc.)
of classic Need for Speed games (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Need_for_Speed_video_games) and their special editions (NFS1 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Need_for_Speed), NFS2 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Need_for_Speed_II), NFS3 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Need_for_Speed_III:_Hot_Pursuit), NFS4 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Need_for_Speed:_High_Stakes), NFS5 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Need_for_Speed:_Porsche_Unleashed), NFS6 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Need_for_Speed:_Hot_Pursuit_2)).

A history log containing websites that went down or changed the content, you can find in a seperate thread here (http://www.nfsaddons.com/forums//index.php?topic=1966.0).

This list is not intended to be exhaustive.  Updated 11/30/2020

Special thanks to: Remko, noise, ED9M, ExoticLover, Stifen_DY, Reight, Paul Spain, Zalcus20, AJ_Lethal
Thank you for all your support.

Big websites and archives are starting at the top, continuing further with webpages of authors and other interesting sites. I also added a brief description of what you can expect to find there.

You are free to post whatever you think fits in here  ;)

Comments/Suggestions/Notes are welcome.

Great work.Didn't know streetdogs is (partly) back.Never saw the french and tjech sites either.

Maybe: http://www.iplounge.net for online racers, but also for questions about SP/EP pack and HSmixer.

On lespittet.com you only see carnames, no pic's.

On Fangio's site I found the GTmod demo which I thought was gone forever.

Also enjoyed Madness on youtube.

Wow, this is some excellent work.
After your suggestion a few days ago I had been wondering if I maybe should have started such a therad myself, but you've done a much better job than I ever could, much respect.  :)
I said I would sticky it... so I did.

Yeah, I had discovered Lespittet myself, a pretty amazing collection (most of it pre-2001), and equally amazing it's still around (his NFS3 collection is even bigger)
But yeah, there are no previews and there's no credit to the authors (most zips don't contain a readme) so you have to guess a bit which car you're downloading.

I honestly thought GearfX was gone, guess I bookmarked the wrong url. Quite a relief.
PassatNFS was a site I'd never heard of, thanks for sharing.

Suggestions:

http://nfseditor.de/  Site that seems to have been frozen in the year 1999, still holds several modes and tools for NFS2 (!) and NFS3.
ftp://ftp.ea.com/pub/ea/  Official EA ftp that still holds official patchjes for the older games, including the official addon cars. Looking around that server you may also find some official MCO stuff, as well as screenshots and movies (look under patches, misc and movies).

http://members.rennlist.com/countach/icedesign.html
A single page with a few tracks and two cars, downloads still work.

http://www.jimi-w.de/NFS/nfs.htm
I don't even remember bookmarking this, but to my surprise the downloads still work. I honestly can't remember if the tracks are any good, though, maybe I should try to filter by quality a bit.  :P

http://nfstoolbox.suckosaurus.dk/  Home of Viv Wizard and NFS Wizard.

Will add more if I can find them.

Just tried Fangio's carpackage.Great pre war race cars, with nice dashes, which were only availible on streetdogs previously. Also VW Golf 1 by Gert Streidle, crappy body but surprisingly correct dash.

Downloaded a F355 from lepittet.Turned out to be crap, car had no interior (transparant windows) and bodycolors didn't work, and indeed no readme's.

@noise: Well, im not sure online-racing portals fit in this list but i guess it wont hurt to add them. So i will make sections for a better overview.
On lespittet you have indeed varying quality and a bad presentation but not everything is low quality (esp. if you keep in mind that most files dated 1999/2000)  :P

@Remko: Thanks Remko  :)
Your suggestions are much appreciated. Really interesting sites there (how I could forget about nfstoolbox   ??? ) ... the official EA server is also a good idea.

Also: I think its ok when i add JimD's dropbox folder

Keep it up!  ::)

Again, great job at organizing that list - I would be hopeless at that.  :P

Maybe Econobox' site would be worth a mantion, the one that Noise posted in the SOTD comment the other day - despite the fact that he's uploaded all his work here: http://crud.toshiba-3.com/ or http://crud.toshiba-3.com/nfs4cars.shtml more specifically.

Cheats.de was another good source I didn't know, here's a similar source, a filehosting service:
http://www.gamefront.com/files/listing/pub2/Need_for_Speed_High_Stakes
Again, most pre-2001 stuff, and no pictures, but at least proper descriptions and authors listed.
Tracks are in "Map-Levels-Missions", cars in "Modifications". Lots of tools too.
The site doesn't appear to have and NFS3 section, though. Not that I can find.

And I was thinking of mentioning this: http://www.dippold.org/nfs/showcarlist.php?z=a&s=d
but I guess it doesn't really count since you can't download the files. The owner only offers you the option of burning you a dvd with everything, for a fee.  :(
Still lots of information on each file, even if most mods are very old and basic by todays standards.

Silly me, I forgot about http://www.bmwsport.net/ site of Jeff, one of our own team. More specifically, this section: http://www.bmwsport.net/downloads/cars

Wow, thats quite a bunch of links again  :D
Duplicates are not a problem... I guess the vast majority of the files has been uploaded on the big sites but file-mirrors are a nice thing. And no website has everything.
Its good you mentioned Markus Dippold's site here, but i have to agree, makes no sense to add it.
Didn't know about the gamefront-folder and honestly never recognised the HighStakes section on bmwsport.net  lol :-[

Very nice!

Post by: Remko on Apr 07, 2014, 12:15 PM
Again thanks for the update. :)
I'll try and see if I can find anything else, but I get the feeling this is pretty much it. I went through my whole NFS and MCO bookmark folder and mostly got 99 variations of "This domain has expired".  :|
Who knows, maybe there are still sites in other languages.

Ok, another one: http://rvdsplace.150m.com/mcoskinsshop.html
It's only a set of skins (TGA files) that fit on Sniper's MCO conversions. I'm really scraping the bottom at this point, but I admit it's still more than I expected.
Title: Re: Online-Resources of classic NFS titles
Post by: MADMAN_nfs on Apr 07, 2014, 2:21 PM
Ok, added the MCO skins.

I found another russian website... they have a few files and you can download a NFS4 game installer (full game!) russian version?. http://nfs4.3dn.ru/load/
Not sure though if i put it on the list...
Furthermore i found this site: http://www.atamcoolcars.narod.ru/carsaaa.htm - sadly all car-links are dead there :(
What attracted my attention is the Bonus Boxster from NFS5 factory driver.

Anyone have this car for NFS4?
Title: Re: Online-Resources of classic NFS titles
Post by: Remko on Apr 07, 2014, 4:16 PM
I think you could add the first site - it seems focused on the 'classic' NFS games, and it's got a few interesting downloads.

Here's another little site that is mostly focused on NFS4 online racing. Offers a few downloads, but for singleplayers there are some interesting descriptions HS' career mode, for example. Maybe for the third category: http://nfshs.goodluckwith.us/

About the Bonus Boxster, it looks vaguely familiar, but there were always so many Porsches for NFS HS on so many sites that I had a hard time keeping track of them, so can't help you there, I'm afraid. Maybe we should  start a "looking for particular addon request" thread as well.  :P

Hey, Remko thanks again for your involvement here.
This website gives a nice insight of the online-racing community (also much general info about NFS4) but the download section only consists of links to iplounge.net and nfscars.net...

NFS Classic RU added.
STD Design added. (almost forgot this one  ::))
www.nfsko.ru added. (Special thanks to ED9M !)

Nice work so far, thanks indeed to all who contributed.
As Madman said, the list wasn't meant to be exhaustive, but that doesn't mean we're not open to any new suggestions we may have missed. Feel free to name any.  ;)

(On a completely unrelated note, I decided to switch to a different set of emoticons because I really didn't like the current style myself - again, nothing set in stone, feedback is welcome. 8) )

Nice find!

raphael.krempel-web.de added.

In old readme files of addoncars you sometimes find sitenames.Found a lot but mainly deadlinks.

I remember: Powercity tuningteam , Fivespeed, Bubbachubs, Tritoch (hollandmodified), Martin Leps, BloOm..... all had their own site.

Found aussiemuscle's site on wayback.archive. you can still download cars (archived .zip files)

Title: Re: Online-Resources of classic NFS titles
Post by: MADMAN_nfs on Apr 13, 2014, 2:14 PM
Thats a good advice, old readmes are a good source for sure.
I dont have anything against wayback.archive - its a very good way to surf on old websites and remember the great times of NFS  ;) ...and if youre lucky enough, they saved exactly the file you need. I just dont want to add them, because a dead site with lots of broken links is not of use to anyone.
BUT
it might be possible to add them in a way like this for a specific site:
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.racerplanet.net/files/* (http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.racerplanet.net/files/*)
under a new section for example ???

I leave that open for discussion...  :-*

I feel embarrassed that I forgot about Memphis' site, glad that's fixed now.  :-\

There's another author's website I should've thought of sooner: AJ_Lethal's http://nfsridescr.blogspot.com/

@Remko: i like the new emoticons but some are listed twice (undecided, sad, shocked, rolleyes, cheesy, angry) - Firefox 28

Good point, that was the next thing I was going to look into.

Uhm, Remko can you check this link again. The site is keeping me redirecting to a fake java download - Norton Internet Security tells me: Web Attack PUP/Adware/ Fake Application Download (i dont want to post the exact redirection link here)  ???

Maybe it had to do with me not paying attention and blindly copy/pasting from my own url box, so ended in .nl instead of .com. ::)

It might be your PC, since Blogger does not do that kind of stuff.

Hello, sorry for late reply.
Im pretty sure its a advertisement at "Compartir/Share" thats causing this, like i assumed in one of my previous posts. Had the opportunity to test it on a friend's pc (different browser, recent AVP from Kaspersky Labs) with the same result. :o
If i abort loading the page before the add shows up everything is fine. Only thing remarkable that it only happens sometimes (infected advertisement?).

PS: just telling facts, i know its not your intention to spread malware  ;)

Guys, guys, I think I found something... it's not a full site, it's more like that Gamefront link, a filehost with mods listed, but no author, pictures or other information, you sort have to guess or rely on your memory from way back to determine what you're downloading.
Layout is a bit confusing too, not easy to search since it keeps listing everything by date - using the search function is probably the fastest way.

The positive site is that there's 200+ pages of cars for HS, 19 pages of tracks, and 5 pages of other mods.  :o :o
It lists NFS.OnlineWelten.com as the source, so this honestly looks like a backup of everything that used to be on NFS Streetdogs before it sized down. There's downloads for other NFS game too. Definitely interesting, wouldn't you say?

Thanks for pointing that out, nice find. It seems links after 2010 or so are usually dead (makes sense, because the site itself had already discontinued by that time).

It helps that the Internet Archive has got a filter option (top right corner) that helps to narrow the list down to utils, tracks, zips, jpg, whatever you're looking for.
I'll certainly take a good look around and see what interesting there is to grab.  8)

Well, I think permissions are a difficult topic.
Of course its not ok to take other peoples work, modify it and reupload without giving credit.

No matter if its a menu sound, car, track or whatever.

If the author is still active (even if not) or have a mail adress you must try to contact him for permission.
On the other hand in some cases it will be difficult (or impossible) to contact the author and ask for permission. Some might say, you cannot upload it then. Yes, true in a strict sense. But if i think of cars for example, a lot of modelers didnt ask the manufacturer in the first place. So cars have ferarri or porsche logo or other copyrighted emblems and brands. Car shapes are the product of months-long work of engineers and designers... so aren't we applying double standards here? (just something to think about :) ) Imo it isnt always black'n'white. Dont get me wrong, I have huge respect for the skilled car modelers and I know how much work it is to shape stuff into polygons!
As I said its a difficult topic.
All i want to say is, most of us moving in a grey zone when uploading modifications and we should not judge too hard because everyone here is doing this in freetime without making any profit. Imo it is more important to credit the original author thoroughly than to have permissions. Or to put it straight in a age-old game cite: 'Respect is everything.'

So to come back to Reights question, i am in no way related to any of the sites listed here nor im connected with any of the site admins.
Concerning www.nfscardownload.com it looks like other cars (also most of yours) seem to be credited correctly and all downloads seem to have original archives and readme's. Looks like an accidental slip to me. Maybe you can place a comment for the car, since I cant see other ways to get in contact with the admin there.

NFSBolide was facing charges by Ferrari. They forced him to stop building and remove his Ferraris for NFS4 off his website. That story could be read up somewhere, I don't remember where.
However, when I read that, I contacted the main manufacturer I build cars of - Porsche - and guess what? I got a permission to build their cars. That was back when the first Cayman appeared, mainly because I was trying to get blueprints of it, which they won't send. Porsche is cool about noncommercial projects, because it's free publicity for them. As far as I know, Ferrari is the only manufacturer so far, that tried to sue a modder of a racing game for making free publicity for them, which is idiotic. Car manufacturers profit of such things as racing game addons.

The point about permissions, and why Will's tracks for example, which were clearly made without permissions of the original authors are still online, is simply because everyone here tries to keep the NFS4 scene alive. I have thougt a lot about the permission and credits stuff in the past weeks, because Will pokes me all the time about it, and I figured that by strictly enforcing what is right, the scene is harmed more than it benefits from that. Since it's a personal concern for me to keep NFS 4 alive, I wouldn't want to do things that harm the scene.

I like that, but I think people who steal also harm the scene.Could we say that mentioning the original author of a car is free publicity for him too?

And you really think Ferrari needs external publicity? Do you?

I mean, I find it rather awkward that a famous car manufacturer would even care about what happens in games, but the argument 'it's free publicity' for them doesn't hold. Do you really think that even a single Ferrari or other car was ever sold because someone saw it as a free add-on for a game?

Back to using some else's work, IMO credits should be sufficient, though I have always asked for permission myself if the original author said so in the readme.

I didn't say they need it to exist, but why do you think it is appropriate to sue a modeler for making free publicity? What harm did it cause them then?

I also do not upload stuff that I could not get a permission for by the original author, because I wouldn't want that to happento my addons either. However, I cannot enforce this when there is no internal agreement upon asking for how to deal with this matter, so it'll stay the way it is right now and some addons remain hosted until we decide otherwise.

That's what my second paragraph was aiming at. They should be like "couldn't give a darn" either way. But the argument "it's free publicity for them" is just as elusive to me.

Hi, guys. I'm a new member here. I found an old site containing a small amount of Ryuji Kainoh's NFS3 cars, with working download links. Here: www.angelfire.com/ab5/lukespage/cars.html (http://www.angelfire.com/ab5/lukespage/cars.html)

Btw, does anyone have a file from this link?

Yeah, the site doesn't show here too, just the Tiscali main page, like Madman says. For some reason I can't make it show up on the Internet Archive either.

Then I googled the site URL and via via I came across this page: http://web.tiscali.it/Robydesign/nfs/auto.htm - which is still visible, surprisingly. So do http://web.tiscali.it/Robydesign/nfs/links.htm and http://web.tiscali.it/Robydesign/nfs/eutility.htm - It's as if it's only Robys mainpage that is disabled.

Eager to see if the download links still worked, I clicked some of them, but each one sent me back to the Tiscali mainpage. And then I saw each of those links had a backslash \ in them, instead of a normal / -slash.
If you copy each url and manually correct the 'slash' issue, suddenly the link works and you can download the stuff.   ???  Isn't that odd? I wonder if that happened recently or that it always was like that and I had to do the same trick to dl his files back in '02/'03, I honestly don't remember.
Strange stuff, but thanks for bringing it to our attention and now we're still able to grab his stuff after all these years.

Ah... thanks for the hint Remko.

Thats the main page i assume: web.tiscali.it/Robydesign/nfs/nfs.htm (http://web.tiscali.it/Robydesign/nfs/nfs.htm)

But you still have to apply Remko's trick to download anything. I will take a look into that afternoon.

IE8? Really EIGHT? You're not using that one regularly, are you? (security advice ;))

OT: Site works fine in Opera (not surprising considering it's another Chromium browser).
Title: Re: Online-Resources of classic NFS titles
Post by: Remko on Jun 01, 2015, 12:13 PM
Well I'll be damned, you guys are right, in Chrome all works fine, even the mainpage.  :o
I've been using Firefox since 2006 or so, all the time I assumed the site was gone, turns out it was just a browser issue, I never would have guessed.
I don't think I've ever come across links being fumbled like that because on account of what browser you use... Unlucky coincidence I guess, with a site that hasn't been updated since '02 (also explains why I had no problems all those years ago, I was still using IE then).
Title: Re: Online-Resources of classic NFS titles
Post by: MADMAN_nfs on Jun 02, 2015, 5:26 AM
Nah, I'm not using Internet Explorer at all... thats why its not up to date  ;). But even this old IE, which has a pretty bad reputation concerning compatibility, displays the page perfectly fine.
Using Firefox as long as i can remember but recently i experience more and more issues with it. On my mobile devices i use chrome anyways.
Since it seems like the most compatible browser, i probably will switch to opera, too. Or use various.

But lets not start a discussion about browsers haha ... probably won't end peacefully  =D
Each to their own.

As stated in the description this thread is about NFS1 to NFS6 (classic nfs games). NFSplanet still hosts files for NFS:Porsche (NFS5) and NFS:HP2 (NFS6).

Yes, I can confirm that. Seems they deleted all pre-2009/2010 files. So NFS 4-6 category is basically dead there.

NFSBolide was facing charges by Ferrari. They forced him to stop building and remove his Ferraris for NFS4 off his website. That story could be read up somewhere, I don't remember where.

Butch had no problem with Ferrari. He rebuilt his Ferrari cars for GT Legends and released them on RacingFR website. His problem was with another brand, a currently defunct one, and the work of mischievous people looking to prey on an innocent artist for a quick buck.

I don't think any honest manufacturer would object. Especially in your case since you're truly devoted to the marque.

It's difficult to say what's "right". Many cars used to be exclusive to one site or another, but back then people didn't think about the long term. Also, more people built their own cars instead of converting so there was the artistic sense and intellectual property.

I've noticed lots of cars are exclusive to NFSCars (either by modder's will or by only being available there) and my last visit there wasn't very pleasant since I don't know what Mike Geise plans to do with the site. It feels abandoned and a pale shadow of its former self. My adblock plugin also registered no less than 71 instances of malware coming from the site and I could only freely navigate by disabling it. Even then, it was slow as fuck. Streetdogs also got nailed and lost most of its content, and most of the original NFS modding sites no longer exist.

I think there must be conditions for reupload. Original content must be intact, for one.

Aww. Guess that was only a matter of time, but still takes you by surprise.  :( Browsing was difficult because it would always re-set your filter options when you went to the next page and there was no info about the author unless you actually downloaded a zip and opened it, but still I'd like to have had the chance to look a bit longer.

Noise did you get all their cop stuff for HighStakes? I got almost all the good ones (left the dippy ones) but there was one I couldn't get..It's a 1970 something Badenwürttemburg Polizei Porsche 911 Targa, It was plain white and I think only had POLIZEI on the front nose, A rare find. I've thought of just finding a old enough car and making it but if someone has it I'll use it instead.

Geez, after watching this topic, I'm starting to feel extremely disappointed now. The classic NFS series is dying.

Now the Gigafront site becomes www.toplist-100.de (an online gaming clan site), what a letdown. We've lost so many NFS4 stuffs.

NFSCars site also becomes extremely difficult to navigate now. Its search function and file filtering system are butchered now.

What should we do now? I'm clueless now. :'(

I'm in the process of collecting as much NFSCars stuff as I can, the worthwhile stuff at least not the dozens of tuned NFS4 EA M5s. The problem is that it takes really long because I haven't found a way of mass downloading and the server probably wouldn't like it either. So it's difficult to get cars like Ryuji Kainoh's and NUH Creations' (Christian Xaver made a lot of unique cars you'll never see in modern games). And that's only for NFS4. NFS5 has a lot of new stuff that came out recently, NFS6 has many legacy conversions, and NFS3 has some vintage stuff.

Good idea. We do what we can at NFS Police HQ as well. Do you know if Christian (NUH) is even still making stuff? I tried long ago to contact him about making some police conversions of his vehicles by leaving a comment on NFS Cars..Never got a reply from him. And this seems to be happening alot with files on NFS Cars so we adopted a policy of try it and if they (makers) complain we can always take it down later.

BTW I know of NO mass downloading way with these files..You just have to download them one by one sadly. Now you used to be able to browse around alot of old sites using Archive.Org but they screwed it all up now and it only shows pages and pics..No download links found using it work now days since they changed to that beta crap.

Commenting is propably the most inefficient way to ask an author for permission, specially when they made as many cars as Christian Xaver (NUH). He disappeared from the surface years ago, I used to chat with him on ICQ but he simply didn't come back online at some point, neither respond to emails. No idea if he is still alive either.

Wow. About like Ryuji then. I think I found his FaceBook but he never responded to messages so I don't know. this is why we started going by the motto of giving credit where it's due but otherwise..gohead and use that file until they say otherwise them selves.

Sometimes I think NFS4 modding should've gone the Ben Trapp/C-959/Yuriy Antipin way instead of using polygons for detail instead. C-959's revised 959 and XJ220 look amazing, but the low res DirectX menu hurts their quality. :(

Biggest issue I have is that lots of stuff are being lost because of this refusal to reupload things the authors probably don't even care about anymore. Some people have left this community more than a decade ago...

This is probably why we don't see at NFSAddons stuff that was common at certain websites, and even NFSCars does not have trivial stuff like the Cheat Enabler.

Oh, and this site doesn't really offer any downloads, but I just liked it because it's a long list of tips and tricks for NFS3 and the author is just so enthusiastic. ;) Somewhat typical of how NFS fansites for NFS used to be some 15 years ago...

Interesting. I tried to register on the site (www.emergency-planet.com), but i do not get any confirmation e-mails. Contacting an admin also failed so far.

Oh, I have to admit I haven't tried to register either, I'll give it a try myself and see how it goes. I just looked at the forum index and it says the newest member joined only 12 minutes ago, so I don't think they closed it to new members.

Update: I just signed up and received a validation link via email that I had to click to activate my account, and I can download files now.
Maybe something went wrong during your registration process? I noticed they had a lot of security checks, they made you agree with their ToS, etc. Maybe they've had lots of spam in the past.

About that second site... I didn't really mean to have it added to the list, I agree that it would bloat the list too much, perhaps I should have made that more clear. ;) It was more of an interesting find, even if it offers tips and cheats. But I'm fine with simply having it included in the comments here.

I wonder if there are enough of these sites left active that it would make sense to have a separate section though, I honestly don't know too many of these myself. I sometimes come across them by accident while looking for anything NFS3/4 related. Ironically they remain while the big sites are gone (makes sense since they're often used on free webspace from their IP, or services like Tripod while big online collections cost money to host)

Here's another such a site: from a czech NFS fan: http://ramm.webz.cz/autanfs.htm
Again, not an actual suggestion for the list since the cars aren't that great. Just interesting since it features some unique models (and the links still work)
But if others have several such sites listed in their Favourites, I see no problem in making a new topic. Perhaps combine it with some trips in the Wayback Machine.
Such as: https://web.archive.org/web/19991012180920/http://needforspeed.com/ ;)

Dunno, i tried really hard to register on the www.emergency-planet.com site, even by creating a new mail account at aol.com (even used a simple name without space, dots or other special characters...) but without success.
I dont get any mails from their automated system, not even to spam/junk folders, simply nothing.

I'm going to add it to the list anyways, but i would like to ask everyone to give some feedback, on how this site is working for you.

- www.emergency-planet.com added.

I discovered another small french site not on the list yet.

Also added the page -=The Running Racers=- (German) (http://the-running-racers-clan.ath.cx/) to Online Racing, which seems to have activity still (in 2016 at least).

Other nostalgic sites:
- an early Warez-site :D (don't worry, the links aren't functional anymore) (http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/david.s/saturn/weekly2.htm)
- Marko's NFS HS page (http://free-os.htnet.hr/nfs/index.html)

Tried to register on emergency-planet. But what does Xfire mean?
Title: Re: Online-Resources of classic NFS titles
Post by: Remko on Sep 05, 2016, 5:10 PM
Like I said earlier, I have no explanation why the registration just won't work, for me it was a matter of seconds. Maybe I was just lucky. Once you sign in, each item gets a blue "Download" button at the right of the screen. But then you get another Disclaimer screen you have to OK before you actually get your file.
It works, but there's a lot of hoops they make you jump through.  :-\ It's also not too user-friendly that the 300+ Emergency Vehicles for NFS4 don't seem to be sorted in any subcategories; all you can do is sort by name, DL count, upload date, etc. but not by brand or location, for example.

Tried to register on emergency-planet. But what does Xfire mean?
Xfire (I had to look it up) is a freeware instant messenger that was used a lot for connecting online gamers. It also had voice chat at one point, but it was shut down last year.
I'm guessing that box was for entering your entering your XFire ID, just like you can enter your ICQ or AOL ID here and on other forums, if you want. I left it empty.

Impressive search work on those nostalgic sites though, There were several I had never heard of, and I already consider myself someone who would spend more time hunting old NFS stuff than a sane person would.  :D

I agree that kind of stuff would probably be fine for a separate, dedicated thread, call it the NFS Wayback Machine perhaps? Maybe not very original.  ;) And I agree it could also include Internet Archive links, as long as the archived sites aren't too broken.
Possibly some earlier versions of the official Needforspeed sites, the official Porsche Unleashed page was preserved pretty well: https://web.archive.org/web/20010203061900/http://www.needforspeed.com/porsche/pc/index.html

Yeah, like you said the "newest member" readout indicates, it is working for some people. But i would really like to know what technical oddity is preventing me from getting registered there...

NFS Wayback-Machine - Sounds good to me :)

btw: Totally overlooked the czech nfs3 site (http://ramm.webz.cz/index.htm) in your other post. Seems fully functional to me. I will add it to the list of course. ;)

also: anyone knows whats up with gtrcars.net? Getting linked to a hoster page saying "This domain name expired on 8/27/2016 and is pending renewal or deletion." Do they have an alternate internet adress?

Concerning gtrcars.net I found this:

About Emergency-planet, I found 4 (police)cars that are not availible on any other site, so it's a usefull addition.

Thanks for the information noise.

I just managed to get registered now at emergency-planet with another mail adress using Strato Webmail.
The mail providers aol.com, aol.de, web.de and gmx.de did not work for me. Not sure at which point or from which side there is a denial. Maybe they use some old security protocols that are blocked by the big providers (no encryption or whatever... we will never know probably) ?

Concerning gtrcars.net I found this:

Yeah, that took me by surprise as well, even though I hadn't been much to GTR lately. I used to post there occasionally a year or 2 ago, but I stopped because there was a bit too much drama going on for my tastes.
According to the most recent post on their Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/drivingpassion.net/ they are almost done with transferring to the new location, so they may be live again pretty soon.

About NFS4, not that much that I know of, aside from the authors themselves (like Freak-DS or AJ) posting screenshots from their releases or WIP. Even the official NfsAddons page does little more than post the SOTD each day.
I've got people in my friendlist from my early TotalNFS/Racerplanet days, but that contact is mostly non-nfs related now. ;)

Most NFS related activity on FB these days is based on recent games such as Rivals, 2015 and No Limits.

It's nice to see some working old NFS sites I never know before! =D

Btw, can someone upload every NFSHS cars with unique characters (like é) from NFSCars to NFS Addons? It annoys me so much that I can't download cars like Reggaeton RS' Murciélago LP640 (http://www.nfscars.net/highstakes/file/17370/) and PrivetDan_14's HSV GTO Coupé (http://www.nfscars.net/highstakes/file/10134/) from NFSCars after all this time. So many years have passed and NFSCars' bugs are still not fixed . :(

Sorry for double post, but I've found a third party mirror of Gamefront called gamefront.online. That site has saved the NFSHS files from the now-defunct official Gamefront website! I've found a website with some NFSHS tracks. Check this out:
http://www.geocities.ws/nfstracks/ (http://www.geocities.ws/nfstracks/)
Keep in mind that only Stonetown, Daytona, Atlantica 2, Durham City, and Firetown are downloadable. The rest are dead ND4SPDWorld links.

And a bit off-topic:
The management of NFSCars is getting worse. The files with names containing the character é, á, and ó are still not downloadable. There are many stealers who upload other people files (and claim those files as their works) and the admins don't even remove those stolen files from the site. Yuck! >:(

- www.geocities.ws added.

Well, atm nfscars is basically unattended i guess (no moderator names at newly approved files, last official news post from April 28th, 2016). I wonder what happens if there is some hacking attempt or other technical difficulties...

OXI DESIGNS (http://www.geocities.ws/oxi_designs/) -> Small site with 4 unique NFSHS cars
Leflic 3D Cars (http://www.leflic.net/bat.html) -> Small site with some unique NFS3 cars

I hope NFSCars gets better soon. That's all I can say about it.

NFSCars has been relaunched in new layout! Check this out: http://www.nfscars.com/ (http://www.nfscars.com/)
And here's the screenshot of the new layout: https://postimg.org/image/amty2d9bv/ (https://postimg.org/image/amty2d9bv/)
It's still slightly buggy, though. Many files (like the files with names containing the character é, á, and ó, among others) have their download link deleted (maybe until Mike343 transfers those from the old site to the new site). Still, It's better than nothing. :D
Title: Re: Online-Resources of classic NFS titles

I like the new design of nfscars, looks more like the one that they had before the white redesign. Also the sort functions seem to work properly now and the "more by this author" option is back.
As for the lost files im less optimistic. My guess is they have to be reuploaded, otherwise they vanish from the site forever.
Title: Re: Online-Resources of classic NFS titles
Post by: Stifen_DY on Nov 22, 2016, 5:59 AM
As for the lost files, most of them are from 'Tools" section, though it'll be a huge loss if Mike343 can't recover them from the old NFSCars. :-\
At least the site doesn't end up like the relaunched ND4SPDWORLD, which has almost none of the files from the old ND4SPDWORLD. Not to mention that ND4SPDWORLD hasn't been updated since 2013, so ND4SPDWORLD's relaunch is quite pointless IMO. :(

Hey guys, I've been just checking out some of my external-HDD archives with all kind of stuff and recently found some really interesting models for High Stakes. Like '69 Riviera in civilian and police variants, '38 Corsair and '69 Daytona from Ground Shaker; '63 Avanti from Wingnut and '62 Bel Air from BigBlock. Looks like complete zips fortunately.
But it appears that now I can't find them anywhere online. Is anybody aware that there are still some running resources where I can find other cars from these authors, if there were some?

Maybe we can reupload them here at nfsaddons?

Good idea, I think. If it's not against the rules. Studebaker looks fine in terms of reuploading without archive changes, aswell as others too. Only prohibitions I see is to either convert or change archive contents.
Probably I also got some more - missing Bel Air 2-door '57 from Shaundaddy, '55 Thunderbird from Marcel Hennersdorf, '67 Cadillac by Buck Murdock and probably some others too - but need to double-check on what I have.
Sent messages to emails included in readmes just to double-check. Ground Shaker doesn't seem to be responding - it appears email included is quite old, and not working anymore. Thunderbird was exclusive for nfs-zone.de, and there are no contact info in Bel Air '57 and Cadillac.

Hi, Welcome Rider66, and thanks for wanting to contribute to the collection. I appreciate that you're trying to do the right thing by getting the original author's OK. But yeah, most of the time such email accounts aren't valid anymore, and the 'exclusive to a site' factor alo doesn't really hold anymore I think, if that particular site stopped existing long ago.
If you've got the original ZIP archives, readme's and all, then I'm not stopping you from uploading them here. (If only because I'm a fan of vintage American cars myself ;)) If you're unsure if a zip is original, then I can look in my own archives and see what I can find.

The 55 T-bird by MH  is already here, though: http://www.nfsaddons.com/nfshs/cars/Ford/211/

Only ones I'm not sure of is GroundShaker/JokinenDesign's stuff, because he DID have his stuff hosted here in the past, but then after a few years he asked me to remove it all. So I did, although he never gave me a reason why.
I admit I'm not too sure what the 'right' thing to do is in this case...

Thanks, well, I'll start to upload them one-by-one. As for GroundShaker's files, yes, I remember that I saw him here some time ago. Can't say for sure how to handle such situation. Anyway, I guess either we can keep officially for preservation purpose, or just keep them somewhere in attachments/outside, being available only by request.

Neither the Stiffnroll or 4lower is not what I recommend to test (i created it).

If you would like to find a sim related (very accurate) handling (and probably test it it on a favorite model), go there http://www.nfscars.net/forums/topics/nfs-high-stakes/43643/2/ and get a Corvette C6 and Zonda early alpha (nearly the latest post).

I can easly say, my prevoius oncreation to handling was piece-of-trash (stiffnroll and all the flowers)
Really

Once I'll trace a B class (Challenger RT to be sure). You guys will get full toolkit to mess with.

Post by: MADMAN_nfs on Dec 30, 2016, 5:11 AM
Thanks for the input guys. Never saw Zacabeb's site before. Nice find.

Geminiyo, I wouldn't consider your older handlings a "piece-of-trash". I like the mass/weight transfer you created with the new handling that makes the car swerve. Though, the use of a controller/analog doesn't make much difference now. The steering now is a bit too weak for my taste (tested with Corvette C6).

The 4Lower site is still working. Version 1.0 is still downloadable but the "Key To The Highway" link, that contains new addon tracks and loading screens, is broken atm.

Geminiyo, are you related with that site (www.fino.w6.ru/nfs4.htm) or is someone just hosting your old mod?
Do you have an own homepage or public hoster-folder that we can link here? :)

List has been updated.

@MADMAN_nfs
I have all 4lowers archives on th personal computer. I havent tested em Recently.
https://box.unet.by/f/13/13814_f5d.jpg
But I still think its piece-of-trash b/c  even if/and anything out of release condidates was fun, it wasnt as realistical as Recent statement (of configurations). Im quite sure about the lack for atleast 5 realistical feautres (or maybe even more) in previous 4lowers. Now its just nearly the perfect. Perhaps you dont believe that.

"The steering now is a bit too weak for my taste (tested with Corvette C6)." - thats true and I know that  but if to make it faster, it will ruin the overal realism. /// About Analog use: It can be use but for most people who playing online it will seems a TOO hard to handle.

fino.w6.ru/nfs4 - yea, its my site. I dont have an access to FTP b/c the hoster closes the free-hosting. I think it will live until 2099 but im sure no one would ever get access to it. I dont have anyother web-pages.

Well today i thought in brains: what if, I will (mistakenly) populise the ratios to all 50 cars. Make the OAT (which is probably a dead feature asides with handbrake use). Well if you have seen "Dumb High Stakes Drivers" video you will understand about it (whe g-transfer parameter in high plus, the allowness of OAT remaining unknown for - I havent tested Opponent Acceleration Tables since last 4lower build. Too much lazy to do that (perhaps). ...
... Aaand what if I fix Fedata, and make it ready to be played in CAREER. Gain to 4lower's cars similar serial numbers that original has, and so, make the "Chevy" tournament or "Porsche" be playable with its closest cousins...
...Get out the porper car Prices somehwere (I have no idea about that)...
...Take out perfect shadow, smoke and tire traces. Also fix the shadow transparancy (under the car) to each track: original and additional.  Put it all in, and release it as 4lower v5

... but something telling me. It will take some time.

If anyone is interested, I was able to find C-959's first versions of the Porsche 959 and Jaguar XJ220 on Gamefront. He eventually rebuilt them from scratch with photorealistic textures at a reasonable polycount but, if you'd like an even lower poly version, there's his early models.

The Jag in particular comes with a very cool upgrade that turns it into the XJ220C, which achieved a class win at Le Mans before being unfairly disqualified by the ACO officials.

Unfortunately, most of the new websites that appear at this point just mirror stuff that we have already, though it's worth adding more of them for the odd file.

WTF is up with NFS Home? Seems alot of these sites close cause people get bored with it and stop having them open, Like was the case with old ND4SPDWORLD I once spoke to Texnolith (I think that's how you spell it) to see if he'd release any of his cop vehicle or other files, Says he got bored and gave it up so he could go into what people call "ricering" cars and I have saw pics of them before. Still though even if it was never updated could have atleast kept the links working I think.

I think I have the perfect solution to keep from loosing these treasures, We ALL band together and form a unique NFs modder's club, See HotMail lets everyone share files and it's FREE no website costs, Only have to worry about paying your ISP's bill to keep your net. We'd have our own secret thing going, We could mention our selves and what not and if people wanna join up with it they have to pass a short exam to make sure they're trust worthy, Then they can join in too. Easy huh :).

Agreed. Moreover, when it comes to some community-based projects, it's time to think about some subversion systems. Bitbucket, probably, or similar source. Won't be too hard to proceed with any updates for any project that way. As for the things that's going offline - the question is more about copyright issues with original authors.

Well if speaking of vehicle models to use, Unless they are 100% fantasy made like some of Chris Xavier's or like Rockstar does in GTA games then ultimatly the vehicle manufacturers hold all copyright on that, Tracks is diffrent, I think these could truely be entirely claimed by the maker as I don't think countries or cities are CopyRighted, Might be wrong there though. I myself don't believe in CopyRight though as I find it often times to be too restrictive, I prefer Creative Commons and wish that's what all fell under, That is a thing where as long as you accknowledge you didn't create something and are only using it and as long as you are not trying to profit off it's use you can use it. Creative Commons is the way to go in my opinion as it's less restrictive and is a principal of share and share alike while still forcing the sharer to give credit where due upon.

I noticed something funny about www.nfshome.com.... while the website has indeed changed so that the files aren't accessible anymore, it seems the files (or most of them) are still on the server. Check http://www.nfshome.com/downloads/ to see what I mean, you can still access the files for each game by browsing the folders.

Could be that the site wasn't actively shut down, but merely that the database somehow got corrupted.

Guess we got a second chance to browse the collection for anything we want to save, in case the site actually does close down in the future. ;)

Oh great, i did not notice that. Yeah i assume the page did not receive much maintainance in the past years. Last file update was in March 2009.
Someone knows staff of that site who could fix the database? Or who could clarify if the site is about to shut down or not?

List updated.

Yeah, I found out by accident, when I was viewing the site in the Internet Wayback Machine. To my surprise, many image and download links still worked. Probably still an easier way to actually browse the collection.  ;)

I believe the webmaster to be Dutch (Martin Kollaard), but I'm not familiar with him (can't find a Staff or Contact page on the website either)

Didnt wanted to create special topic for this message.
Do anyone heard of this truely Fantastical programm to High Stakes and Hot Pursuit ?
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwmqNtDg30G6VnZzVW44eHo3YmM/view?usp=sharing

I found it on harddrive. Somehow i have never installed it before the Today.

...Its not only allows to set the colors to prevented .fce's, but many other things that is relative .FCE files (damged fce's, count of polygons, the car parts names, driver movement...)

Yes i know the prog. Especially useful for color editing since you can independetly set the opacity of a color. Tiny and simple to use. It is running without installation too (just dat and exe file). The author is Rocket.
Still downloadable at nfscars.net -> http://www.nfscars.net/need-for-speed-high-stakes/2/files/view/5231/

FCE Converter is standard tool in every author's kit, haha. :D It's also important for setting rotateable vertices in the driver.

However, I prefer to set the base color in FCE Colors by Klaus Heyne and only after that fine tune it in FCE Converter.

I never used that program to convert files to HighStakes from NFS 3, I simply opened them in CarCad and then saved as NFS4 FCE.

what's happen of Econobrick's website...even rr2000.toshiba3..........
both of that author, 404 not found what i got......

Indeed, http://crud.toshiba-3.com is completely offline. So Econobrick's NFS and Carmageddon files are no longer available.

I will also remove Ferarri Man's site http://fmhsmod.wordpress.com, since it is missing the key aspect of this thread now. His dropbox account was suspended due to exceeding traffic limits, so the only remaining and working links there point to external sites like nfscars.net. To change that it would require him to actively reupload the affected files and update his blog which is, quite likely, not going to happen.

Finally Veg's site found a way on the list. Not because i forgot about it all the time... i simply wasn't sure where to place it :)
In my opinion the modern patch changed everything from top to bottom. So i even thought about making a new section for it or integrating the sitelink in the description somewhere...

Howsoever, just hoping this list provides a somewhat consolidated overview of available sites and is useful in one way or another.

- http://crud.toshiba-3.com/nfs4cars.shtml offline
- http://fmhsmod.wordpress.com hosted files offline (dropbox)

I tried http://crud.toshiba-3.com/nfs4cars.shtml just now, and it seems to be up again... it loads slow, but if you give it a minute, it loads (and the links work). So I'm guessing its downtime was temporary, whew.

Thanks for keeping the list updated, tho.

Oh thats great, Econobricks site is back online again.
Will add the site back to the list at its proper place asap.
So hopefully it was just a temporary issue...

wow, seems like there are still a few who like the classics? thought I was the only one.

Its been some time since I hit the forums, but I have a PC with working titles of NFS SE all the way to NFS Rivals. This includes Motor City Offline and NFS World Offline.

Im an old timer in the NFS series, so ask me any questions about them.

Also I am up for racing in any of the series, though that can be a challenge for some of the games at this point.

I also wonder, is anyone else crazy enough like me to have all the NFS games running on their PC? Is there interest in having a PC that could run all the NFS games?

Big Websites and archives are starting at the top, the bottom section lists webpages of authors and other interesting sites. I also added a brief description of what you can expect to find there.

You are free to post whatever you think fits in here  ;)
Just don't link webarchives (like web.archive.org) please.

Comments/Suggestions are welcome.

Regards MADMAN

If a link is not working properly, please send me a private message.
I will try to keep this first post up-to-date, i.e. I will add new links to the list and remove dead ones.

Quoting this for internet archive purpose. Don't mind that since the last update for this thread in Wayback Machine is in 2017. This should be standard procedure each 4 months.

Instead of crossing them out, please provide a link to the internet archive version of those sites.
[...]
I'll check your suggestion. The thing is, the goal of the service web.archive.org mainly is preserving website-texts.
As was said before, it's a great way to visit old sites with information that is no longer available on "live-servers". Gathering those links would be great for a nostalgia thread, but the intention of this topic is different.
On Fangios site for example you can only access Outback and Congo. The rest of the site is dead. (and these tracks can also be downloaded from various other sources - like nfscars or nfshome).
Other sites have exactly null archived files. I see absolutely no point in listing them here.
But i agree that on the other hand some sites got preserved almost completely, like Ramm's site. So i will look into that.... probably that needs to be decided individually depending on the website.

Would be a good idea for madman to visit those sites every once in a while and try to preserve files. That will make it much easier for people in the future to retrieve files they want. Otherwise, they would have to find someone like us to give them lost files. I know I had to find someone to retrieve long-lost game mods for a game that doesn't exist anywhere in the interweb, and it was a pain.
Well, gathering old apps and files for old games is a pain and will always be a pain. I do check the links when updating the list. But sometimes mistakes can happen.

In case they ever want to revisit those sites for memory, that's reason to support links to archive with commentary about the state of being of those files, but instruction to get there could work as well. Hmm, it seems that there needs to be two separate threads if the intentions are different. Really well preserved sites should be an auto-include, no doubt.

Also speaking of fangio's site, that Landstrasse Track special Version 1.3 is really interesting, too bad it doesn't exist.
Title: Re: Online-Resources of classic NFS titles
Post by: MADMAN_nfs on May 01, 2018, 8:02 AM
I checked the old links. I think there are about 3-4 sites that are preserved in a way, that they are still usable and maybe useful.
Guess i will make a seperate webarchive section for them...

So you can suggest well preserved web.archive sites to be added on the list.
But as a rule of thumb i find following conditions reasonable:
-Website should have at least 50% of the initial available files preserved
-Files are rarely or not available from other sources

About the other sites (about 18 URL's) im not sure what to do with.
Of course I understand the wish for a kind of "history" log or a nostalgia section. Although, these sites ARE listed in the replies of this thread, i also understand a sort of overview would be better.

Unfortunately this will bloat the first post extremely.  :-\

The forum here at nfsaddons sadly has no spoiler function to hide a section.
Maybe a admin could add an empty reply under the first post that i can edit to make "nostalgia" section... idk?
Just feels like the topic might become very confusing when adding all that stuff, into one post.

Opinions?

I agree w/ ExoticLover, two different threads are the most useful thing. I.e. someone who wants to search something he needs will have its search way easier if the links offered are all functional than waste time on those unhelping sites.
In case someone wants to look for "historical" sites, or just because he's curious then he can refer to the other thread.
Later, the time you spend updating this main thread will make it stay at the top, despites if both threads are stickied.

Alright.... i squeezed everything into the first post, by making a new section.

Wow, a few site just died recently. Blazin Motorsports, and what else? It was in the same category. Time to use Wayback Machine to archive as much as I could. Zacabeb site no longer accessible.

Also, I found Urban Germany for NFSHS!

Site found - http://www.geocities.ws/_Mad_Max_4073/

---

Damn, the site I found had only dead download links, but I think I'll archive it anyway in case any one wants to redo those cars which I don't think it'll happen, but whatever. On the bright side, there's that Aussie Muscle site which can be found via Wayback machine, but there's more download links there.

Also, I found a few of those cars with Aussie Muscle Wayback Machine. - https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://aussiemuscle.totalnfs.net:80/*

Thanks for the info ExoticLover, i will update the list when i have time.
I will also make a new topic for the history/nostalgia section since everything got too bloated (like i feared) and also the forums post-length restriction is reached.

Yea, noticed that with Zacabebs as well. Actually the linked site was part of a, well, swedish version of the Wayback Machine (www.internetmuseum.se). Seems they shut down lot of sites, cause of a new EU guideline.

Urban Germany was made for High Stakes only, so i not really understand your excitement there.  :)
Currently it seems to only be available at the streetdogs site. http://www.nfsstreetdogs.org/downloads,id2270,urban_germany.html
I think its not on the big sites, cause of author policy, only allowing upload exclusively.

The Madmax site is dead long time, unfortunately. But its a good addition for the history thread indeed.
AussieMuscle site has many files archived. Thanks for info again.

Greetings

Moved list of Wayback-Machine and Nostalgia sites to new Nostalgia/History thread (http://www.nfsaddons.com/forums//index.php?topic=1966.0).

-www.nfs.scorpions.cz (http://nfs.scorpions.cz/hp2/index.php) added
-2Torcs Labs (https://sites.google.com/site/2torcs/) added
-Aussie Muscle's site (https://web.archive.org/web/20041113054053/http://aussiemuscle.totalnfs.net/amnfs/index.html) added to Webarchive section

-Blazn Motorsports (http://www.blaznmotorsports.com/index.php) offline
-Zacabeb's NFS site (http://home.swipnet.se/zacabeb/) offline

edit: another update... Zacabebs site was completely preserved at archive.org
-Zacabeb's NFS site (https://web.archive.org/web/20050211202737/http://home.swipnet.se/zacabeb/) added to Webarchive section

-4LoWeR 1.0 Mod (http://www.fino.w6.ru/nfs4.htm) offline
-EA finally put down their old FTP (http://ftp://ftp.ea.com/pub/ea/) with many files for some vintage games, including the NFS series

Indeed,
seems many (if not all) files have been captured from the EA FTP. While most NFS related things are in the "pub/ea/" path, beware that some files have been stored in different locations.
(for example the Voodoo3 patch for NFS3 is at ftp.ea.com/pub/easports/patches/ (https://web.archive.org/web/*/ftp://ftp.ea.com/pub/easports/patches/nfs3hp/*))

- EA FTP (https://web.archive.org/web/*/ftp://ftp.ea.com/pub/ea/*) added to webarchive section
Title: Re: Online-Resources of classic NFS titles
Post by: ExoticLover on Aug 12, 2018, 8:28 PM
In that case, the better link would be https://web.archive.org/web/*/ftp://ftp.ea.com/pub/* as it allows you to have access to 142 pages of files. Plus, this would benefit whoever out there is looking for the FTP link and stumbles upon this thread which includes people that are looking for things for other games other than the NFS series, but that's a bonus.

The archived link to the pub-section of EA's FTP is in place under 'Files'.

For fino.w6.ru (4Lower mod) one rar file, the 'Key to the highway 1.8', has been archived; containing 19 tracks (including loading screens and edited text files for proper menu names).
Guess i will add it to the webarchive section as well.

Hey, since nfsunlimited is still up and running, i directly linked to their site, so its not going over archive.org.
NFSUnlimited is using an unencrypted http connection, so your browser is probably simply warning you not to give sensible data away on that site.
If the warning comes up, simply click "Advanced" and "Continue to nfsunlimited.net" (message may slightly differ dependeing on your browser).

By the way Remko, thanks for making the topic sticky :)

Well, that does give me nostalgia. You could go into edited cars and see screenshot of cars.

Certainly nice to see some of the big names from the NFS3 editing heyday: Tom Egelkraut, Patrick Wisselo, Scott Linfoot, Eric Arroyo (who went to actually work for EA on NFS: Motorcity) etc.

Do you know where to find NFS 5 updates? I need the official one, mainly 3.5.
I'm 100% sure the one that is on iplounge.net is not the official one as it has a cracked exe.
And exe is from 26.6.2000 and readme from 10.8.2000, so it was certainly packed later.
I also found the same one on Game Front and NFS-Planet, and slightly modified zip on Patches Scrolls.
Title: Re: Online-Resources of classic NFS titles

Hm,
in the "expected" place, at patches folder, you will only find the DLC-cars.
https://web.archive.org/web/*/ftp://ftp.ea.com/pub/ea/patches/nfs-porsche/* (https://web.archive.org/web/*/ftp://ftp.ea.com/pub/ea/patches/nfs-porsche/*)
The misc folder only has the game soundtrack as mp3's...
https://web.archive.org/web/*/ftp://ftp.ea.com/pub/ea/misc/nfs5/* (https://web.archive.org/web/*/ftp://ftp.ea.com/pub/ea/misc/nfs5/*)

Looks like they aren't there... so either we looking in the wrong place, the files have not been archived or they were never on this FTP (instead at other EA server).
To be sure we would need an old link to an official source, or at least the exact original filename respectively.
According to mobygames, the 3.5 patch was released on Jan 13, 2002 (?).

Well, also cant come up with a trusted file from an unofficial source... e.g. the patch at nfsplanet.de seems untouched: https://www.nfsplanet.com/patch.php
Have you checked that, does it already contain a crack?
Additionally the file dates display August 2000... when the patch actually has been released...? So i understand your dilemma - which file/info can be trusted?  ???

Greetings

As I said, I checked all that I could find on internet.
I also checked the official sites in the topic "Old Need for Speed Websites - Nostalgia & History". They only have the demo and the 4 cars.
Sites that I mentioned have the best version of this update, but it's still not original.

Every other file except the exe and the 3 txt files is dated 3.4.2000.
I also found cracked updates 3.3, 3.4 and 3.5 from MYTH.
3.3 is very rare, never heard of this one before, but I always wondered if it existed. Reason is it was never released in stores, from NFO: "The european store final had 3.0, USA had 3.2.". And then there was also v3.4 CD. I don't think there's a CD version of v3.3 and v3.5.

v3.3 - 3.4.2000
v3.4 - 3.5.2000 (only exe is changed from v3.3)
v3.5 - 26.6.2000, properties.txt 27.6.2000 01:38 (only exe is changed from v3.3)

I presume version.txt wasn't changed, so official ones were released on the same day.
In v3.5, every file is the same as the one from iplounge, only it doesn't have the ReadME!.txt from 10.8.2000.
So this update from iplounge (and Game Front and NFS-Planet) is certainly not the official one and was repacked from MYTH release in august 2000.

If not on internet, what's left is CD's from PC magazines from 2000. I had them, but I threw them away in 2012.
Title: Re: Online-Resources of classic NFS titles
Post by: MADMAN_nfs on Nov 11, 2018, 4:11 PM
Hm, maybe there is no official package or installer? NFS Porsche had an ingame update function, which probably loaded files on the fly from some EA source.

Seperate packages you can find now seem to be user-made, probably by comparing disc and hard-drive files after an update, then packing and uploading changed files.

Gotta say, at that time (2000...2001) i had modem connection and never used any online functions of NFS5. Guess later on i always used patched, user-edited files from the various NFS sites around.
So if there were official patch packages they seem to be wiped from the web...
Magazine cds seem a good idea, although they often are a compilation of stuff from the internet. Anyways, I dont have a cd from that time with a Porsche update.
But i can confirm that later cd-batches of NFS Porsche had the 3.4 patch integrated.
Keiiko collected isos of EU v3.0 and v3.4 ... maybe ask him for a link. By comparing  differences on these cds its should be possible to get (trusted/unchanged) files of the 3.4 update.

Greetings

I am satisfied with your answer.
If there was a downloadable update, it would be on their official site. At least it is for HP2.
On NFS3 website I also found there was an Auto-Patcher.

I already know the differences between 3.0, 3.2, 3.4 and 3.5. And I already downloaded all the CD's from Keiiko's Mega link.

SafeDisc doesn't work on Windows 10 anyway, so this 3.5 official exe is no good to me anyway, same for cracked exe's. We already solved which files you need in the thread Difference of patches.
It was more for comparing official to cracked, but at least I did this for v3.4.
Reason for this was I first thought EA used Myth's crack, as it says official update on iplounge.net, but it's not official.
That wouldn't be the first case of this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myth_(warez)
So now I have all the information and all the files that exist for NFS5.

EDIT:
I downloaded all PC Zone CD's from 2000 from archive.org, from July to December (demo is on June's), and there's only a NFS HS update 4.44. But it's an exe. I always found it strange how come the NFS5 one comes in a zip and you have to manually copy files to different folders.
Now I know, it's third party.

EDIT2:
If you download 35nocd.zip from iplounge.net, it has the files from EAUpdate, proof is in the file update.log.

- www.team-ger.net (http://www.team-ger.net), also down unfortunately  :'(

Due to the inevitable end of flash player support, some flash-reliant websites are simply doomed in near future. Files are still hosted, but site navigation is unusable. I will provide direct links if possible - especially STD-Design relies so heavily on Flash, its practically down without flash-player access.
This also applies to NFS Experience (http://anca.lenoble.chez-alice.fr/) and www.halfmoon2.com (http://www.halfmoon2.com) sites.

Archive site went so shitty now, They used to save files from ANY site they archived but I'd say 10 or so years back they went to this new Beta crap and that got rid of the saver..Now they just save pics and articles mostly vs actual downloads..Stupid really..No point in archiving stuff from a game mods site if you don't even bother to save the actual downloads themselves and keep them available..But that's Archive.Org for ya! There's a old saying: If it ain't broke don't fix it..Thus had they not went to that Beta crap all the stuff would have worked (links, downloads, etc.) but they felt they just had to change the site. I used to use Acrive.Org alot to grab things from PursuitInc.,NFS StreetDogs, and Aussie Muscle's site, etc.

I'm happy to report that RP-Design is back online: http://rp-design.lintu.dyndns.org/
Nappe1 contacted me earlier this evening and shared that he revived his more than 20-year old site containing NFS3 and NFS4 cars, tracks and tools, as well as his more recent GT Legends mods (although the links for the latter files don't work at the time of writing). Bringing the site back online at an anniversary is a tradition of sorts.  ;)
Another tradition is a 'wayback-machine' page of the site as it was in 1999: http://rp-design.lintu.dyndns.org/way-back-machine/ (links to the Volvo and Jaguar are dead, but they work in the current site above)

That is awesome! I wonder if nappe1 would mind if we archive the rest of his stuff here?

I see the link to "Hacked Speed" on the wayback version of his site. Fun fact, the chatroom on Hacked Speed is where NFSAddons/NFSGarage got it's start. Unfortunately the archive.org versions of it are lost

I got a neat piece of news: you can use the Ruffle browser extension (https://ruffle.rs/#downloads) to render STD-Design's site (http://std-design.narod.ru) functional.

Came across this russian site with old nfs3 cars. I didn't see it  in the list. Download links seem to be working.
