Found this great low poly Mercury Cougar on nfsstreetdogs here:

http://http://nfs.onlinewelten.com/en/downloads,id206,mercury_cougar_eliminator.html

I got a feeling that somebody named ''stacker'', made a bad conversion to nfs4 found here:

http://http://nfs.onlinewelten.com/en/downloads,id2963,1969_mercury_cougar.html

I also did a quick conversion (see pic). The car showed up in black and I couldn't change that

2 questions:

-Does anybody know the car or author
-How can I change the colors (it worked in nfs3, so why not in nfs4)

The alpha channels in NFS4 are different than NFS3, things can get a little complicated with that, I can help you with that.

But even then it's weird since the car should turn grey (colour usually used for the body in the texture) instead of black...

Okay, what to do with alpha channel? as you see in the pic I also converted the Renault sport spider. On this car also the colors don't work.

Here are more nfs3 conversions:

In the alpha channel, 223 is the colour of the main body (also called "primary colour"). This is the alpha channel of my Murciélago LP640:

223 is primary colour, 96 is secondary colour (for colour-changing rims), 255 is opaque and 0 is transparent.

Oh and please share that Renault Spider with us!!! ;)

I believe converting the nfs3 Renault Spider to nfs4 is very easy for you to do.I don't have permission to upload.

Can I use the nfs3 alphachannel or do I have to make a new one.

You can, just paint it with NFS4 colours.

here's the alphachannel from the mercury in fce finish:

By nois at 2007-09-04

The white color should be the primary color for the body but it shows up black ''in game''

I can't help you with the conversion problems, noise, but I DO know who the author of the original car is. His name is Kris Winters, but he used the nickname 'Cougar' as an NFS author.
Nice to see the readme on the NFS3 car is still intact, but it seems his name was never in there.
(reading the other names mentioned in it is like a nostalgia trip ;))

Nowadays we consider it a decent low-poly model, but at the time, a polycount approaching 2400 was almost considered too much. :p Notice the apology in the readme about the lack of low-detail carmodels and the warning about lagging on slower PCs. Different times, my man. ;)

Point 2, yes, there IS an NFS4 version of it, but it's been a while since it was on any websites, and right now I don't know if I have an original ZIPfile on any of my backup DVDs. I DO have a separate Car.viv file of the NFS4 Cougar, as it was part of the line up of the original Detroit Muscle mod (veterans may remember that). I can get you the .viv, if you want.

I haven't heard of Cougar since 2000 or so, he used to hang around a bit on NFSCheats and the old TotalNFS (nowadays Racerplanet) and I doubt if his old email address still works, but I could give it a try, should you want me to.

Hey WiLL, good to see you're still around.
I'd like to be around more, but I've said that so often that It's probably beginning to annoy people. :ugh:

I will admit I'm liking Pro Street better than Carbon so far, so I may be a bit more involved once the game is released. :)

Thanks Remko, for the info about the Mercury.Does the nfs4 conversion have multiple colors? If so I like you to send me the .viv.

I thought I picked up all the Detroit Muscle cars, but I didn't see this one.Isn't the Detr. Muscle mod downloadeble anymore?

Do you know the '62 Chevy Belair by Bigblock

http://jpracing.racerplanet.com/modules/mydownloads/viewcat.php?cid=87&min=30&orderby=titleA&show=10

It has a superbe dash.I found it today, unbelieveble I didn't see it before, it's probably around for many years.
