Is there a way to convert NFS 3 tracks to NFS 4 and if so what do you do? I saw some I'd like to try on NFS 4.

I think there isn't a way to convert tracks. I tried to modify the t3ed sometime ago, but it seemed to be too much work and I gave up. Are there really nfs3 track that are worth to be converted ?

Yes, I saw some intresting ones on a NFS 3 site I found checking those links MadMad archives but I can't remember the site since he has so many saved.

Gilles Bett from "NFSGB" was the only person I know who is able to convert tracks from NFS3 to 4 and vice versa. As far as I know he wrote a program to do so for his personal use and never released it to the public. Too bad than NFSGB is closed down :(

That was his site (waybackmachine):

Do the tracks in NFS 3 use the same TR.FRD and T00.TGA format? If so maybe one can just copy them over to a NFS 4 track, Keeping all files the same except for the TR.FRD and T00.TGA?

No the frd format differs. In NFS3 the are two files which build the track, the .frd and the .col file. The col file has the information of the virtual road. HS has only the frd file for track and vr data. There are also some additional settings for textures which can be used in nfs4.

I remember that Nappe1 managed to port one of his earliest NFS3 tracks (Granite Mountains) to NFS4. Sadly, I don't have that track anymore (another one on the "I thought I did... but I guess I don't" list), so I can't give you a look.
I don't know if he found a way to actually convert it, or that he managed to re-create it in NFS4 format, but according to the Internet Archive: https://web-beta.archive.org/web/20010604173256/http://rp-design.totalnfs.net:80/index.shtml
the converting part was done by Dan2K from West Coast Design...
Sorry that this all doesn't really help.  :-\

And sadly the governmant archives are now a total P.O.S. on the most part, Some sites they still keep the download links up but I've found on most Archive.Org will give you some stupid message: Hrmmn, That don't seem to be archived, BUT the thing is they had it working on the older archive site before they went to that BETA POS, I have contacted them and told them to fix these links but never got a reply once from them, Oh but they cry and cry for fund raising though :P. I've had to add a ton of new elements to my ad blockers that will pop up when you try to visit archives.

Granite Mountain doesn't really look that great. I hear some Giles Bett had some tracks, but I never received a response from him when I was working on the NFS3EP. Oh well. We're just gonna have to live with what we got.

if at least people would share what they have collected over the years but most ppl just sitting there and be like "oh i have so many stuff from nd4spd.de ,nfsstreetdogs and so on in my collection" fine, and when you guys start to think about uploading them somewhere for the other people who maybe would like to drive them, too? -.-' what about to keep those files alive on the internet?

but those times passed, not a lot people actually care about old nfs anymore... files went offline, got lost and overall not there anymore - just in private collection...

It is sad that collectors dont want to share it even after so many years :(

It's getting off topic, but I have 1600 nfs4 cars and some are lost.I do want to share using PM. Too bad sometimes the readme is missing. And also the cars are bit modified.
