The well recognized aircraft engine manufacturer Napier during the Second World War,
is now no more than a sadly memory.

Robert Napier, a member of the great shipbuilding family from Dumbartonshire,
startede the carrier blacksmith in the very early Eighteenth Century.
His grandson David Napier set up manufacturing in London in the 1820s of steam operated printing machines.
One cousins from that time helped Samuel Cunard to form the shipping line and build ships.
In addition to making printing machinery, for the bible, bank notes and other important works,
the firm progressed to the manufacturing of riffle bullets and other machinery for the Arsenal.
Napier became a distinguished name.
In 1889 Napier started the manufacturing of engines for boats and cars.
In 1903 the engine manufacturing developed a six cylinder Otto engine for private and commercial vehicles.
In 1914 Napier got a Government contract for manufacturing of the R.A.F. 3 aero engine.
Late during the First World War the primary engine designer was A.J. Rowledge who designed the famous 12 cylinder Lion engine in W shape.
Later important engine designer was Frank Halford and Lord Nelson.

@pete9516: Thats alright, also filled all info at "Additional Car Features". Thanks a lot for uploading this gem!
JokinenDesign/GroundShaker made really quality cars back then. Too bad he had removed nearly all of his cars, when he gave up on NFS 3d modelling.
