A couple of hours ago, we finally got a look at some actual gameplay from the upcoming NFS title: The Run. The five minutes of gameplay (which is pretty heavy on the cutscenes and scripted events, and doesn\'t show that much actual racing) were uploaded to Youtube and Needforspeed.com soon after.

By the way, the the official NFS The Run site also got a few updates, including some more details on the gameplay as well as listing the first few cars from the car roster.

I like the 993 GT2 displayed, but this doesnt look like Need for Speed at all.

Looks pretty interesting, but just like Freak said - not NFS-ish at all. Burnout + Driver + ... GTA?

Yes this is the farthest from Need For Speed yet. If you're playing NFS, trust me, you don't want to get out of your car. ;)

I saw a 993 GT2 yesterday, it looked like its owner raced it, there was a number on the side and instead of '911 GT2' it said 'RS America' on the back. ;)

I only want QTEs in RE, bros.

Seems like I have to avoid crashes.

I was disappointed that the focus was so little on the racing and so much on the non-racing parts. And what we got to see in tersm of actual gameplay looked very familiar, Underground-like (albeit run through a clearly much more advanced graphics engine )

I guess it's a good the thing we know from the game description that there's also going to be daytime races on open roads, hopefully we'll get to see that in future trailers.
As for now, I didn't really see a lot to get excited about. The fact that Black Bocx was allowed to work 2.5 years on this, and not throttled by the release schedule like they were a few years ago, is one thing that still gives me reason for optimism.

Yeah. I was excited for HS and PU, maybe HP2, but after that they were just racing games... and actually this is like a GTA clone :P

And also, Remko, you bring up an interesting point with the release schedule. Actually you made me think of something different. Even though HS was released in the summer of '99, the graphics were probably the best available in 98 or so. Unless EA designs graphics last, which actually now that I think of it seems logical. Anyway, that's why mods from 2002 look so crisp (or some of them), because they were modeling from '02 as opposed to '98 ...
    ...
sometimes I don't understand the way my thoughts progress.
