Hi guys I'm currently expanding the proyect to add more cars so you can choose what to race.

I'll be focusing on cars by (Ryuji Kainoh), since he has the biggest library of low poly cars for the game.

Cars I'm currently polishing are:

Class B or A:
- Mazda Rx-7 Type RS
- Porsche 911 Carrera (996)
- Toyota Supra RZ

Class AA:
- Dodge Viper GTS

Class AAA:
- Ford GT90
- Lotus GT1

This means I have to add extra damage to the car model if needed, see if I can find a dashboard, worst case scenario I mod one of the existing ones.
Replace Stock drives head, Add car tire pattern, check and tweak textures, create showcase, etc...

You can send me a message with the car model you would like me to work on.

Thanks for sharing this project. Indeed the Ryuji Kainoh cars blend in well with the default EA one's. If you manage to balance these cars it surely result in a nice "nostalgia" version which could cover many of the classic NFS games.
The current filesize of the package is 236 MB.

So here is some critique and errors i found so far:
- First of all you should think about using RAR or 7z archives in the future. It will reduce the size by 100 MB approximately.
- The folder structure of the current package is not fully correct. FeArt and Showcase files will be placed in the wrong path and are not working ingame.
- The showcase files of the Aston Martin (slamd7**.qfs) are incorrectly numbered, resulting in faulty slideshow
- The 360 modena has showcase files in the "savedata/cars/fmod" folder
- imo the naming convention should be more consistent; sometimes you have the year of production in the name, sometimes the exact vehicle model and sometimes no additional info...also some car names got way too long, overlapping the menu - i dont like that

FCE Finish is known to screw up centering of the mesh - but thats not a big deal. Quick'n'easily fixed using "FCE Center" by Addict.
--> FCE Center V1.0.0.0

About the Ferarri 355: Its true, FCE Finish is not loading the model correctly. Might be some sort of mesh lock - im not sure. I opened and resaved the model in Zmodeler without trouble tho... maybe you can work from there: Fixed F355 file

Keep it up  :)

You just made my day. I woke up at 3:00am after I saw your comment las night and started working on it, don't worry after my laptop battery demanded juice I went to sleep. So far I have managed to add the Tire Pattern to the RUF CTR2 (1997) and Spectre R42. Still have a lot to do. But now I know I can make it.

I will implement all pending changes and suggestions you made. Since I want to make it easy for everyone to try it out.

If everyone has some more suggestions please feel free to point them out.  =D

1. ...Done!
2. ...Done!
3. ...Done!
4. Yes, I'm aware of this. I've tried to delete these files, but if I do the car no longer apears as an opponent for the AI. It's an EA addon so I wouldn't touch that.
5. I still have to figure this out, some ideas might help in order to keep eveyting more structured.

I uploaded a new version in *.7z (7-zip) the file is about 200MB. Just extract and copy to your Need For Speed High Stakes folder. Take note that I included a config.dat file in save data, that way all vehicles (bonus) are available from the start.

Updated Link to Files are in the First Post !!!

Sugestions or ideas are welcome. I will keep working on the pending stuff.

P.S.

I noticed that after tweaking these three cars a yellow mesh appears in them:
- Spectre R42 (rearview mirror)
- Italdesign Scighera (rearview mirror & engine)
- Ferrari F50GT (tail)
- Lamborghini Diablo GTR (front lights)

I haven't figured out why this happens. I just know that it changes colors with the ambient lightning. You can see it when driving, maybe madman_nfs has a work around for this issue.

Future Updates after everything gets woked on:
- If VEG manages to increase the car count, I would add the Nazca C2 (AA Class) from Ryuji Kainoh, and 2 more cars for B Class.

That sounds like a normals issue.

Hi BoxCarRacer,Well I heard them talk about, the Normals, thing way back in 2000, on this same forum ) an I can't remember the program they use for the cars,it's for how the Car shines,an Shades,in Game... like with Car Crome on an off? Etc. If Franknfurter was around, he could help you more ( but he's gone now. So I'm guessing Fce Finish,mAy be the one u use? They say they used that last when they Finished there car Mod... I'm just the older track editor from here... ... is all. Cheers pal )

See the green line that are coming out of this vertice? That's a normal and it basically tells the vertice how lighting and shadow should go.

And when the normals point out at really off positions, glitches like parts going off like stroboscopic lights happen

You can fix that by recalculating the normals in ZModeler (using the "Surface" > "Normals" > "Calculate" tool in either object or vertex mode) or by re-initializing the normals in FCE Finish.

Corrected the normals for the (Diablo GTR, Spectre R42, Italdesign Scighera and  Ferrari F50 GT)
Corrected normals and lit dashboard for the Italdesign Scighera.
Corrected dahsboard wheel texture for the Honda S200, when selecting the car color yellow the wheel would display a red color on the dashboard, in the camera view.
