So, I'm trying to make a folder of all the cars Ryuji Kainoh made for NFS4... I have all the cars available here and on NFSCars, but there are about one hundred and fifty cars still missing in one form or another... To be exact, sixteen cars I've found converted over to other games, one hundred and thirty-nine that I can't find at all. Here's a list of everything, with notes:

Cars I've found converted to Re-Volt
  • Dodge Viper RT/10 - NFS3 version found, possible to re-create NFS4 car by combining files?
  • Ford GT90 - NFS3 version found, possible to re-create NFS4 car by combining files?

Respect for the work you put in this post.Maybe in nfs3 section of online sources there are rare kainoh cars. You're certainly not the first one who started a topic about this.

Check this: http://www.nfsaddons.com/forums//index.php?topic=1065.msg27342#msg27342

Thanks man! I have found a modified version of his Beetle RSi over on NFSCars NFS3 section, but it hadn't crossed my mind to check NFS3 here! I checked that topic but sadly all of the links are dead now too. :(

I'll check through NFS3 on both sites though and update a new list of "Found as NFS3 car!" It won't be perfect because they'll be missing the interior, but it's better than nothing! :P

EDIT: Gone through the whole NFSAddons NFS3 section and sadly didn't see a single RK car... I'm gonna' go look through NFSCars' NFS3 RK cars though! Thought I might have found RK's Golf but it was a dud...

EDIT 2: Decided to do some Google sleuthing and found an unknown RK car! (That is, it wasn't on the Wayback backup of his site...) It's the Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph!

NFSHome is where I found the Rolls, it was one of four RK cars on the site. The rest of them don't seem to have any of RK's cars that I don't already have a copy of... BUT! I've got good news! I've found RK's Celica converted to Midtown Madness and I'm using the Celica Ultimate concept to restore it! Will update as progress comes.

EDIT: This is a bit harder than I thought it would be... It's obviously RK's Celica, but it almost seems like it's been stretched or something...

EDIT 2: I really wish I could figure out exactly what's been done here, because this thing is not cooperating at all. No matter how I scale it, something is always out of proportion...

So I decided to come here after seeing the thread on NFSCars though I was going to come here and state my intentions eventually.

Originally my plan was to quietly obtain Markus Dippold's CD and release the files publicly with help from this very community. As you all know the only way to get the "Downloads" on his site is through ordering a DVD. Unfortunately I have had to adjust my plans forward to jump on board this ongoing project as soon as possible, through no-one's fault intentionally. Let's just say great minds think alike.

Below is a link to a screenshot of Kainoh's Cima converted to MM2 that I found a couple weeks ago when I embarked on my own, separate mission in obtaining all of his available cars. Shouldn't be that hard to find though I can provide a link if necessary. You'll also find his Maxima, in addition to a couple other cars.

It seems Heavyshell's taking care of the restorative modelling which is good as I have practically zero experience in 3D modelling for games such as NFS, though I do wish to have as useful of a role as I can possibly muster as this is probably going to be the last ever search for previously undiscovered Kainoh content for NFS3/4.

And now, a little bit of unrelated news:

In July 2013, I decided to use DownThemAll on Christian Pittet's NFS3 site in the very event that his archive did vanish from the internet. Lo and behold, 2 years later, that very thing happened and now you can no longer publicly download his car collection from anywhere on the internet, and I'll be more than glad to help diffuse the relics of NFS3 history among the community. The only problem is, a grand majority of the files stored inside are without papers, so to speak, so if they were to be uploaded here they wouldn't be attributable to any author in particular. I already checked every car by the way a few weeks ago, there does not appear to a single Kainoh car in there, though you are all free to check.

EDIT: I should mention, as I did on the NFSCars thread through a different account, that the NFS3 section on the attached text file was deliberately left almost empty as I had intended to go through Markus' archive once it was in my hands which is why there are so few in comparison to the other sections.

Also, one thing that didn't occur to me immediately but really should have is that Ryuji Kainoh's cars aren't very, well, complete for lack of a better term. They seem to me as if they're basic conversions from NFS3 with the typical low-poly HS "driver" interior added to make it fit in with the rest of the default cars. They don't have upgrades or an interior. A little idea I conjured up in my head is to perhaps make alternate versions of RK's original cars that combine three cars into one file (for example: The Evo II and Evo III could be upgrades to the Evo I instead of being three separate cars), and to put in an interior, just to make them fit in better with EA's default cars. Only problem I got with that is the test interior I decided to put on his Veyron (McLaren F1 GTR) is blank for some reason, the model loads but the texture doesn't. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Regarding Pittet's archive, I decided to throw caution to the wind as it was only 800MB and am currently it to my MediaFire. I'll make a new thread for when it finishes in a couple hours' time.

And here's a link to Ryuji's MM2 and Revolt collection (minus the Torneo Type-R, didn't even know about that one and was disappointed when I found out that the download on NFSCars was corrupted) just to make sure we're all on the same page:
http://www.mediafire.com/download/pqatyqju5jjacmi/RK_-_Revolt_and_MM2.rar

And finally, just to clarify, what program edits .qfs files? I feel I could re-create some of the lost vidwalls from cars such as those that were converted to Re-Volt if I can find the same photo that Ryuji used back in the day.

Some of them were originally made for NFS3, others for NFS4, but they were converted to Re-Volt and Midtown Madness 2 and then the original files for NFS disappeared, meaning this is all we have now. They need to be converted back to NFS before they can be loaded up correctly again. I know there's a tutorial on converting NFS4 cars to Re-Volt, but not the other way around so I wouldn't have the slightest clue on what to do with them to get them back in the game they were originally made for. I just hope Heavyshell will know what to do with the files I put together.

To be honest I only downloaded a handful of cars by Ryuji Kainoh over the years. Luckily I was able to find 4 High Stakes cars in my archives, and one for NFS3 HP (presuming you're interested in these as well):

https://www.dropbox.com/s/vofmgdajz9obugo/Ryuji%20Cars.zip?dl=0 (7,27 mb)

Includes:
-Maserati 3200GT Assetto Corsa
-Porsche 924 Carrera GT
-Nissan Fairlady Z432
-Techart 996 Turbo GT Street
-Eggenberger Sierra RS500 Cosworth (for NFS3:HP)

If you're still interested in some more NFS3 cars, check:

Not sure if you are still following this thread or not but I have a folder with a bunch of his cars I downloaded a long time ago.  It's not all of them but I had a decent amount.  I uploaded a few of them to NFSCars a few years ago but it just became tedious.  I can take a look at what I have an update later.

Skoti used to have a CD with all his cars, but I can no longer contact him.

In fact, I couldn't contact him even back in 2009 (or was it 2010?).

This is a bump, but it's the latest thread on the subject, so might as well post in it.

The summary of the current state of the restoration of RK's cars is basically the following:

1. I DLed everything that was in NFSCars and here, including the files posted by Remko, of which only three are unique (Maserati 3200GT Assetto Corsa, Nissan Fairlady Z432 and the NFS3 Eggenberger Ford Sierra Cosworth).

2. I have Alex's MM2 and Re-Volt collection, and I'd be willing to bring them back to NFS4 myself, but the state of these cars is unknown, they might not be all original anymore, although, if they're better than the originals, it might be worth keeping them in the state they currently are.

3. AJ_Lethal posted his collection of RK cars many years ago, but of course that link is deprecated. Perhaps he'd be willing to post it again?

4. There's one car in NFSCars with a corrupted download link. It's a random Toyota, not sure if it's worth going after.

5. I haven't gone through Alex's files from Christian Pittet website yet, but it should be very easy to recognize cars from Ryuji Kainoh in that collection. All that's needed is to cross the list in the archive with the list from RK's website which, to my knowledge, was compiled by FerrariMan.

6. The poster above me (Andrew L) has his own collection of RK cars and around the mid-2000s was uploading the missing cars to NFSCars. Perhaps someone could contact him again and see if he can post the files he has. Andrew was known in the early NFS modding scene and had his own website back in the day.

7. Our admin Mike Henderson has said he has the whole website backed up at one point. I wonder if he'd be willing to search through his archives once again?

8. Old NFSCars member Nemesis (known as nunyx in DeviantArt) claimed in 2007 he had all of RK's NFS4 cars and some NFS3 cars, but nothing came out of that.

9. This information I have is often overlooked, but I clearly remember Skoti posting on NFSCars that he used to have a CD with all the content from RK's website. Around late 2009 I was in an RK car hunting spree and tried to contact him first on NFSCars, then later via MSN, but wasn't successful. I remember NFS Bolide (Butch) probably had his contact, because Skoti converted some of his cars to NFS3. I can try talking to Butch about it, but can't assure any success since it's been so long ago.

Between cars downloaded from here and NFSCars, as well as the few files posted by Remko, I have 199 NFS4 cars. The quality seems to improve the later they're made. The vast majority was made for NFS3 first then converted to NFS4. His Carrera GT, Murciélago and Saleen S7 are his best cars.

On related news, since Mike Geise renovated NFSCars last year (website is really nice now BTW), most of the files in there should be safe for now, but, as a precaution, I DLed all of Felixx's cars (another famous modder in the early NFS4 era). There weren't that many, but I think his portfolio is worth preserving.
