Hey folks .. work on Sheriff Little (and his car of course) continues .. searchlights, chrome trim and bumper fangs now added to the car and Sheriff Little is wearing sunglasses and a helmet (though some detail on it is still missing) but his uniform is now properly coloured ^-^

Tried a different lightbar setup with white takedowns on the outer edges ... ;)

the in-game pic still shows the wrong uniform though ..

Editing Projects / 1975/76 Plymouth Fury rework .. started!
« on: Apr 25, 2017, 1:31 AM »
Good news folks, started reworking the '77 Fury to the '75/76 model today, I have finally found a useable rendition of the original taillights from this 'for sale' car, a Sheriff Rosco replica based on the authentic 1975 Plymouth model .. ^-^

see attached pics for an impression of what the taillights look like so far .. now beginning the front end rework :)

Editing Projects / my interim project ..

Just to send a proof of life I want to show you what I'm currently at, just a short one for relaxation .. ^-^

Another iconic car of the eighties and seen in many movies and TV shows, the 1980's Chevy Impala LAPD:

Picture of an authentic museum car from a contemporary Presidential motorcade:

Based on my rework of DodgeBoy's 1980's Impala 'Buckingham Masson Police' it will be found on Police H.Q. ;)

See attached pic for current state; it uses the new AeroDynic I made for the 'Terminator' movie car but with some more detail added like a base plate Paul missed so painfully =D

Editing Projects / Tahoe series (Evo 4x4 based)
« on: Apr 02, 2017, 10:59 AM »
I'm back .. kinda folks ... after having uploaded the Racer Tahoe Z71 I had a look again at some of equally based 'Evo 4x4' Tahoes I have like the Peel Regional (PRCT), the General Pursuit (GPCT) Sheriff Tahoe and another one I had done myself once, a 'Park Ranger' kind of traffic Pursuit Tahoe ... still considering doing an 'FBI' undercover version of it like it can be seen in crime series like 'Bones', 'Criminal Intent' and such (well aware that the FBI rather uses the bigger Suburban than the Tahoe ::)), but what do you think?

The Peel Regional (PRCT) as well as the Park Ranger Tahoe use an updated Streethawk lightbar, the General Pursuit (GPCT) Sheriff Tahoe an adopted Whelen Edge strobe lighbar with an LED/halogenic flashers scheme ...

General NFS / How to transfer torque curves into carp.txt
« on: Mar 18, 2017, 10:00 AM »
Been asked how this works,. transferring a torque curve into carp.txt 'torque curve' tab .. best if I explain that by most recent project, the Ford F250 coming with two different engine types:

Open car.viv in NFSWizard (needless to say but ok .. ) and switch to 'gearing/engine' tab. Click on the little red 'curve' icon on right side of the values row to show a pop-up window showing the current torque curve then ..

Choose appropriate car with matching values on 'automobile-catalogue.com' and click 'full specifications', scroll down to 'show torque curve' and a pop-up window will appear showing the (estimated/calculated) torque/power curve in 500rpm steps (you might have to disable pop-up blockers etc. to properly work ..)

Important: your carp.txt needs to be aligned to default 20-step scheme first, if it is for example a 40-step curve that some authors use plz. export it and let RealTuner align it to 20-step torque curve first (RT does this automatically after query when it detects a Carp.txt file in a specific folder ...)

Choose your given torque peak value e.g. '540Nm' by looking at the corresponding rpm value e.g. '540Nm @ 2500rpm', means: 2500rpm is x-axis value '5' in your carp.txt (6000 x2 /1000)and 'distribute' the following values along that scheme correspondingly, means the double value in carp.txt x-axis, for example: 300Nm @ 6000rpm -> y-axis value '300' at '12' (6000 x2 /1000) x-axis value in carp.txt ...

Just to show you some significant differences between a Diesel and a Petrol engine torque curve have a look at:

1) the 6.8L (412 ci) V10 Petrol engine torque/power curve
2) the 7.3L (444 ci) V8 Diesel engine torque/power curve

The torque curve is the orange one each ...

source: 'automobile-catalogue.com'

Tipp: Sometimes the exact model (car) isn't to find on there, I recommend to gather information about the desired car to find out what engine or transmission it uses .. you can find a lot of info already on Wikipedia.com, you can for example find out which other model(s) from particular brand uses e.g. that engine type or transmission, try again find the alternative model on 'automobile-catalogue.com' and have a look at the car then ... ^-^

Was the same issue with the F250, wasn't to find on there but I found a sister/precedessor model of it .. the 'Ford Excursion' using same transmissions and engine types ... :D

If you then insert the correct values (like e.g. weight, turning circle and wheelbase - those values have most significant influence on the driving behaviour) found on other sources into RealTuner it automatically calculates matching carp.txt values for your desired car .. ;)

If no engine redline is given on the website have a look at another short tutorial:
http://www.nfsaddons.com/forums//index.php?topic=1844.msg33815#msg33815 and scroll down to:  'Add.: Explanation: Calculating a redline rpm by certain given gear specification data:' (fairly at the end of posting ..)

RealTuner v.2 program by erkberk@pandora.be (freeware license) is attached bottommost ..

Hello community,
after I uploaded the recent 'traffic semis and buses pack' what was being a whole bunch of also organizing work >:( I wonder which either already begun or new project I should proceed with, is it the Challenger Concept car I already updated with a new hood (see ibidem thread) and I want to also make a Pursuit version of or rather AJ's 90's Camaro for an overall rework and also make several Pursuit cars from or, what was my own personal objective, finally rework the '77 Fury to '75/'76 version and make some matching Police cruisers for the 'Bandit Run' game? ???

Editing Projects / traffic Buses and Semis ..
« on: Feb 15, 2017, 2:34 PM »
Folks since AJ has now uploaded his cool 'Traffic Pack' I do not want to withhold that any longer ..

Through the years I created/modified some traffic stuff that should then later become also part of a probable 'Bandit run' game release ...

As some might have already seen it on screenshots or on postings I made some traffic cars that are uhm .. a little 'unusual' since they're partly real Semi trucks .. NFS cannot really handle semis so the normal way to create this is brakes parts (OLB/ORB) being 'truck' and :HB being trailor, nothing new to some ..

Looks as said a little strange in-game but after you got used to it is nice for a change in usual traffic ...

I think the 'Snowman' Semi is by now somewhat well-known among the most of you so here's some other ..

General NFS / 'Paused' camera ...
« on: Feb 14, 2017, 8:37 PM »
Say folks, is there a way to influence that 'from bottom rear to above front' way of the circulating 'Paused' in-game camera somehow (I mean except for F1 .. F4 keys)? Has certainly been asked before but just to reassure ... ;)

Editing Projects / about NEW Chally (Concept) again ...
« on: Feb 11, 2017, 10:48 AM »
Before I start or continue making the '06 Chally Concept also a Pursuit car I wanted to ask if this lightbar was ok for you folks ..

It uses an LED one from NJ's '06 Pursuit Charger (06SC) .. it's a Pursuit version of his 2006 Charger (06RT) that's never been published I guess ..

pro is it is segmented so it only uses very small texture areas contra is has bit more polycount than a 'plain' one but that no matters anymore nowadays ... :P

You may notice a different rim texture on the Chally too .. I had a look again at Zalcus' original texture and found it only had to be blurred a little to make it look better ^-^
Being at it I also made the brake discs' texture new ones is better one from Nils' '06 Charger too =D

That should then be the last new 'single' car project before I continue with another more series of cars like AJ's '90's Camaro or finally the '75/'76 Fury base car for the 'Bandit run' copcars or Sheriff Rosco's car from 'Dukes of Hazzard'

I have attached the revised mesh and texture for the Chally here but will also come with the Pursuit Chally then in zipfile so each one can update his Concept Chally :)

Btw the revised mesh file also eliminates the 'sunk in ground' issue in car menu for those who might have complained about that ;)

Editing Projects / .. another late 80's icon?

As for me I always loved the IROC Camaro (of the later ones) best ..

The only useable base to find is Azrael and Mecha's 1989 F-Body action team one as far as I know ..

About modifying the car:

Don't do it, or you will die. i will personaly hunt you down and kill you
if you ask and show me you what you want to do i mite let you

___________________________________________________________

Installation : Put the "car.viv" in the "C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need For Speed High Stakes\Data\Cars\iroc" folder.

Your NFS:HS install location may be different than the one above, but that should be right in most cases.

Enjoy.

It is of course a bit highpoly and needs some normals and other rework done but I'll see what I can do since that really wasn't the first highpoly car I reworked to a reasonable polycount and carmesh load measure ;)

Question is will I get permission and would you folks at all liked to have that reworked for new driver as well as for some iconic Police cars like for example the Nevada, RCMP or CHP Camaro?

Editing Projects / guess what ..
« on: Jan 28, 2017, 4:41 AM »
anyone recognize that? ..  ^-^

https://www.youtube.com/v/add1QZ5yjvU

wouldn't tell more ..

need some help on car identification .. in chronological order if possible from Texas to Georgia ..

first one is of course Sheriff Buford's Pontiac Lemans Enforcer .. he himself claims to be from 'Portague County' that doesn't exist and 'Montague County' does exists but is a bit far away from actual setting so I consider the decal as fictional department but ok ... ;)

uuh that was close ..

next state 'en route' would then be Arkansas .. showing State Police and Sheriff vehicles?

bit clueless Arkansas Sheriff ..

.. calling Ar State Police for assistance then I assume ..

with seemingly little effect on pursuit ..

.. couldn't spot any Louisiana cars so next recognizable cars on the 'Bandit run' are then Mississippi State Police cruisers .. ?

noticeable attraction to water in general ..? ??? '.. take me to the river ..'

Alabama SP is then again skipped couldn't see any? so next is then finally Georgia State Police ..

Gran Fury here Paul bit damaged .. ;)

and '77 Pontiac Lemans Enforcer again ..

1977 Pontiac Lemans is not available for any game so I would rather stick with the Fury cruisers I would then alter to '75/'76 model with different taillights and two round headlights as well as in-grille marker lights .. :)

I made Buford's car already based on the 80's Ford LTD CV base once ..
Would the Gran Torino also be ok since has almost matching colour just needs that different Sheriff's logo ..? (with Buford as driver of course ..;))

Editing Projects / '69 Charger by Krystoff
« on: Jan 16, 2017, 11:56 AM »
How would you folks like a revised and a little polyreduced version of Krystoff's '69 R/T Charger from Toca Race driver? just askin' ..

.. has new ODL (also working new side markers front and rear), realistic performance and is overall mesh and texture reworked as well as it comes with a little less polycostly textured GT wheels from Shelby Mustang GT ..

Not yet quite finished but I think that Charger is an iconic muscle isn't it ... ^-^

These Toca cars always come with those 'The stig' like drivers, planning to exchange that for a more or less default driver also these ugly bucket racing seats for an old authentic 'couch' - if I find a nice comfortable one that's not too much eaten out ... LOL =D

Editing Projects / 1999-2004 Mustang GT
« on: Jan 14, 2017, 4:29 AM »
Have a question folks .. found this again on my HDD by chance .. do you like the older '99-'04 Mustang GT as well? I must admit I never liked it that much since it was one of the most modded cars in HP2 but just to ask .. made this from an SVT Mustang Cobra base and another Police texture from a Pursuit GT Mustang forgot of whom in both cases ::)

15
To make myself appear as not too historic or 'antique' (I mean concerning cars ..) even if my age would suppose so -LOL .. I still have here a smart little rework of a well-known member of ours .. the 'Concept Challenger' by Zalcus20 .. one of our favourite Ghost file tinklers of which I didn't know he was also making cars .. a real 'multitalented' guy as only to be mentioned here .. ^-^

.. what I only did was downscale the car to somewhat real size (0.94 factor) and give it a 'smoother' overall look you might know of and might as well got used to by me in the meantime .. I also added some hopefully better 2½D fivespoke GT wheels and better tyre textures and an ODL that might as well deserved its name and some improved lighting ..

I also imported the better 3D Steering Wheel from provided 'Dash.fce' and made the driver uhm .. a bit more 'life-like' .. ;)

What I also did and what was giving me headaches all the time were those 'air ventilation' flaps on the hood .. solved that now by assigning them to :OS part so the flaps would then 'open' or rather disappear when car is in movement .. close but not real I know since the flaps would open up by hoofing on the gas pedal ... ::)

That car is -by all means- a real badass one that Zalcus20 had done in that early Concept R/T state even if the later SRT8 is being considered a true 'hellcat' .. :o

but see yourself ..

Useless to mention that there might follow up a Pursuit version of it .. as soon as you don't intervene that the 'Concept Challenger' wasn't really been done as a Pursuit car and not to forget Zalcus as the author's given permission for that .. ;)
